Not sure why other users needed glue, but these bird houses snap togehter for a tight fit. we first painted (comes unpainted), then snapped togehter. thin wood but very sturdy. good product, esp for the price!

When my shipment was received, I was very disappointed to see that most of the crosses on the tops of the birdhouses were broken. They didn't seem to stand up to shipping. However all of the other birdhouses seem to be in very good shape and of good quality.
Pros: Educational, Assembly, Age appropriateness
Cons: quality

The children have been so excited and just couldn't wait for the funds to come in so our Sunday School class could replenish our craft supplies. They were the most ecxcited about building their own church birdhouses.. Well, last Sunday we got out our birdhouses and HOW DISAPPOINTING!! The wood peices which seem sturdy enough have slots cut into them so as the pieces may 'snap' together. Every birdhouse we tried not one of the pieces were matching up and to top it all off, out of a dozen birdhouses @ least 3 are missing peices which weren't found in the usual 'extra peices package.:(
Pros: Educational, Child's Favorite, issues can be worked around, children enjoy buiding things
Cons: Assembly, missing pieces incorrect slot hole placement, some wood pieces didn' fit into slots properly

Needs lots of glue to hold so have a glue gun or so ready -
otherwise - nice !
We decorated them with regular crayons and markers - I added a spray to protect against watter and sun - Hope it works !
