There is a story that uses the characters in this set,and my class will enjoy the interaction between the two. I wish OT had more items that could be used as visual prompts to classic stories!
Pros: Educational

Some of my sets were missing animals and some were misprinted - many badgers were missing their noses. The extra pieces were a popsicle stick and an additional piece of string. If it were less expensive, it wouldn't be a big deal, but this purchase was a big chunk of our activity budget and I'm disappointed. I wish I had saved the money and made my own sets as I have done in the past.
Pros: Age appropriateness, Educational, Child's Favorite
Cons: quality

As; so I looked again, and as I mentioned, I expected some kind of story lead-in's about KAYLA & her woods animal friends; but there was nothing in the package. Then I noticed the mitten is the shape of Michigan's LOWER PENINSULA . . . so I improvised, and made my own UPPER PENINSULA . . .
AND we used the animal shapes as stencils on heavier card stock paper!! Maybe you folks should do the same?!!
Pros: Educational, Age appropriateness, provides starter kit to use creatively[super]
Cons: Assembly, need to use a durable glue to keep animals stuck, i don't lace up mitten - use for lwer peninsula mi

This is a great activity for first graders to practice lacing and sequencing skills. We used markers to color because crayons did not show up well on the mitten paper or the animals. The markers look great and the puppets are a GREAT way for students to practice their story retelling and sequencing skills. We also detailed the characters, setting, problem, and solution on the front of the mitten.
