Sturdy and fun
Date: March 17, 2010
"I used these crafts with fourth and fifth graders. While knotting close to the beads sometimes was an issue (if you don't knot close enough to the beads you risk running out of string at the end), overall these are a great craft idea. The fourth and fifth graders made these to give to the Second Graders making their First Communion in May. Colorful and sturdy..."

So Much Fun!
Date: March 13, 2010
"I purchased these for my third graders and they were awesome! The kids loved them and so did their parents! Some of the beads were not round but that added to the character of the rosaries and made them special! What do you expect for the price? Some of the holes were not completely open but that was easily remedied by giving the kids a jumbo paperclip to use to poke them open. The strings were plenty long enough and did fray a little bit but not that big of a deal. I recommend opening each kit ahead of time and emptying each one into a little container. This way you know if something is broken or missing and can take care of it ahead of time. Then give one container to each child with a paperclip. You might want to make one ahead of time to become familiar with it. What a blast! Would not recommend for younger kids unless they were paired up with a buddy or adult."

Disappointed
Date: February 22, 2010
"I was very disappointed in the rosary kits. The beads are very bright and colorful, but the bead holes are not smooth. They are rough and they shred the string right away. We used these in a first grade classroom and the kids could not put more than two or three beads on before their string was shredded. We had to put tape around the ends to get them to go through the string."

A GREAT ROSARY!!
Date: December 15, 2009
"I've been making these for my second grade CCD class (time constraints do not allow this as a class project). The rosaries have turned out so nicely that I've been giving the kits to friends and neighbors for their kids and grandkids to make. There have been a couple of "blocked" beads, but I just used a paper clip to push the blockage through the hole. A great product at a great price."

"I loved them. We made them for a craft fair. Things I would change - Make all the green beads large, why is one of the Our Father beads small? More string so you can make better knots. Regular knots slide through the beads. I am going to restring the rest with my own cord and use the wrap around knots. Of course, if this is a project for kids the regular knots are the best."

Favorite Church Craft YET!
Date: November 8, 2009
"I have ordered and have made almost every craft yet that oriental trading has to offer and this by far has to be my favorite! The kid's parents in my classroom loved it too and couldn't stop talking about it! Only complaint...some instructions steps are unclear but easily fixable at the end and one kid was missing one set of bead color. Just be prepared to allow enough class time to complete. These go great with the rosary craft boxes that they sell here too!"

Wonderful Catholic School Activity
Date: October 31, 2009
"The review suggestions were helpful. I taped the ends of the string, which worked wonderfully. I used this with a first grade class and because some comments centered on the difficulty of knotting or the lack of string, we did not put the knots in between. The bead colors were enough to distinguish between the decades. It was a great activity and the printed card on how to pray the rosary was great for families."

Great Product for the Price
Date: October 9, 2009
"I did this project with my 1st grade catechism class. Everyone in church raved about them and how perfect they were for this age group to distinctly see the different decades. My suggestions: 1) Give yourself 1.5 hrs w/ this age group. 2) Get several adults to help w/ knotting. 3) Make sure to order a few extras so that you can use beads from other sets when they are not borred out 4) Make one yourself first so that you know what you are doing. 5) Purchase more string at the craft store and use that instead (string that is included is not enough...and string at the store is about $1.50 and I could get 5 longer strings for the kids out of it). 6) Tape the end of the string tightly so that it does not unravel on the kids."

Hard to do.
Date: June 5, 2009
"I'm a 6th grade CCD teacher, and bought this craft to use during snippets of "down time" in class (before music, after prayer service, etc.) Took us a whole year to finish (I'd say over an hour total time). Lots of trouble with undrilled holes in beads. We taped ends of string or they would ravel and snag on rough beads. Lengths of string varied, so some could not finish entire 5 decades. In all, a disappointment."

rosary for kids

"nice, but hard for kids. I had trouble making the knots. had to double knot so that the beads wouldn't come through and realized I should have made my knots closer together cause then i ran out of string before i was complete with the beads!"

good long term project
Date: March 2, 2009
"This project took my 4th graders several weeks at about 10 minutes each to complete. I gave each a wooden skewer like the ones used for kabobs to open the holes on the beads that were not quite open enough. Also, some of the strings were shorter than others and we found it to be important to make the knots as close to each other and the beads as possible to reserve string for tying off at the end. Loved it!!"

lots of knots

"Nice product, but requires making lots of overhand knots. Thread could be a bit thicker to make this easier. Our 1st graders had some trouble with knotting, but LOVED having their very own Rosary beads!"

Good idea
Date: January 26, 2009
"I bought this for my wife's catechism class. A little something to do in class as a project. When we got them, I had my 12 year old daughter put one together and she did it quick took her about 40 minutes. She did have trouble with a few of the beads having blockage so the string would not go through them. But we took a very small screw driver from this eyeglass kit and used that to poke out the blocked beads. Pretty easy. My wife said the kids enjoyed putting them together. They did not finish in this class, but we had brought plastic sandwich bags collected the pieces and labeled them with the childrens names and they are going to complete next week. I got that idea from the other reviews. Really fun project."

Poor Quality
Date: January 4, 2009
"I bought these to make as gifts for My Religious Education class. I love the idea of making Rosaries, but the beads had only partially drilled wholes and the crosses are made of poor quality wood. I was expecting more like the old wooden rosary crosses. I guess you have to expect to get what you pay for..."

Bring Bags & a Drill
Date: November 13, 2008
"I brought these craft kits to the CCD class I teach and the kids really enjoyed them. It was perfect for fifth grade and probably would have taken a little over an hour for the whole class to finish. Unfortunately our class is only an hour and so I sent the unfinished projects home with them. I wish I had brought some zip lock baggies to keep all the beads together. Also I tested out the project before-hand and noticed that many of the holes in the wooden beads were not drilled clean and they were very difficult to thread, so I brought a drill with me and drilled the beads the kids had trouble with. Otherwise I would have given the kits five stars. We had a lot of fun and most of the kids loved to have a tactile and crafty alternative to their usual class work."
